Me to myself: Do I really need to write this post? Its so simple, mostly everybody knows about it and doesn’t contain those fabulous looking luscious lipsticks or amazing eye palette colors or any new makeup launched which will make my readers go “wooooowwwww”.
My brain to me: huh!! This is your blog!! Write whatever comes to your mind and think might be helpful to others even if very slightly.
Me: Ok fine. Let me share with other girls and see if they would like to read it.
Yes, this is a very simple post about cleaning the little babies (read: brushes) that we use to apply our super expensive makeup stash.
Its super important to keep the makeup brushes clean because as we use them, the products keep getting applied and re-applied to them and thereby making them more prone to bacteria/dust etc. I try to clean my brushes one in 10 or 15 days, depending on how regularly I have used them.
I will just share how I clean my makeup brushes. Lets see if this helps you in anyway.
Step1: Take a broad bowl and add some gentle(I am using Forest Essentials shampoo here but you can use any gentle shampoo like Johnson’s baby etc) shampoo in it (about same quantity that you might need to wash your hair). Then add some water to it, mix it well. Dip all your dirty brushes in the bowl for about 5-7 minutes. Do remember- try to dip only the hair in water and not the metal part of the brush to avoid any unnecessary harm to the brush.
Step2: Then after 5 minutes ( the water of the bowl will be mostly brown by now), take each brush out. Put it below a steady stream of water so that most of the dirt gets washed out. Then take some shampoo on your palm and gently rub the brush in a circular manner. Once the brush is clean, wash it under a clean stream of water again. Be very gentle during all the steps so that there is no shedding of hair. Once the brush is clean, keep it in a separate dry bowl.
Step 3: Repeat the above step for all brushes till they look clean like new once again.
Step4: Then take a newspaper and put all your brushes to dry.
Finally, you have clean new brushes again.
Its such an awesome feeling to use new brushes once again. It might just be me, but I feel even makeup gets applied much better with fresh brushes.
How often do you clean your brushes. Let me know in the comments below.
